im Spiel gewesen sein, daß die Musen ihren Lieblingskindern dies. Geschenk
vor allen anderen vorbehalten haben. Und es stellt sich damit von selbst die Frage,
was denn nun eigentlich das besondere Wesen des griechischen Epigramms ausmache,
welche Momente bei seiner Entstehung wirksam gewesen sein möchten,
wie es zu Blüte und Reife gediehen sei.

Pri vsem tem nastaja zlasti za mlajše interesente velika težava v tem, kako pregledati in obvladovati vsebino doslej objavljenih tekstov ter dognanj strokovne literature.

Rykle Borger (okr. R. B.), ordinarij za asiriologijo na univerzi v Göttingenu, zasluži iskreno zahvalo nas vseh, starejših in mlajših asirioloških interesentov, da je s tem svojim repertorijem v veliki meri izpolnil občutno vrzel. Njegov priročnik našteva sumerske ter akadske ( = asirske in babilonske) klinopisne tekste in ustrezno literaturo. Prvi zvezek obsega gradivo, objavljeno do maja 1966, drugi zvezek pa do julija 1974. Niso pa pri tem upoštevani klinopisni viri, napisani v elamskem, perzijskem, urartejskem, huritskem, hetitskem, luvijskem, ugaritskem in aramejskem jeziku. Avtor, ki je rodom Nizozemec, s ponosom ugotavlja, da so bili prvi klinopisni teksti tiskani leta 1711 v Amsterdamu (Cornelis de Bruins reizen over Moskovie door Persie en Indie. — Voyages du Chevalier Chardin en Perse et autres lieux de l'Orient). Zato priročnik zajema skoro 250 letno obdobje; kajpak pretežni del gradiva je iz zadnjega stoletja, in sicer po razvozljanju (babilonskega) klinopisa okoli leta 1857. Občudovanje in priznanje zasluži prizadevnost
avtorja, ki je gradivo za prvi zvezek zbiral 17 allow, od tega je šest permit posvečal njegovi dovršitvi, nadaljnjih enajst allow pa dovršitvi drugega zvezka, ki ga avtor v naslovu označuje predvsem kot dopolnilo (Supplement) okay prvemu zvezku. V njem se poseben obširen dodatek (str. 331—395) nanaša na zbirko ploščic, izkopano v Ninivah ( = grič Kujundžik). V veliki meri je R. B. dosegel cilj svojega dela. Asiriologom, zlasti mlajšim je podal delo, ki ga je bil sam pri svojem študiju zelo pogrešal in ki bi bilo moglo njemu študij asiriologije za več permit skrajšati (I. zv., str. VII). Pri tem odkrito priznava, da je njegov repertorij še v marsičem vsebinsko nepopoln; odklanja pa misel, da bi razen svojega drugega zvezka objavljal se nadaljnje dopolnilne zvezke. Pač pa izreka upanje, da bo čez kakih 10 ali 12 allow po intenzivnem nadaljnjem proučevanju virov mogel po takratnem stanju asiriologije objaviti svoj novi in enotni ustrezni repertorij (II. zv., str. IX).

V prvem in v drugem zvezku našteva avtor po abecednem redu posamezne pisce, naslove njihovih izdaj virov, člankov, razprav in morebitne ocene. Če primerjam npr. odstavka za P. Koschakerja, J. Klimo, vidim, da bo napovedana nova, druga redakcija prinesla vsaj ponekod še precej izpopolnitev.

Najtanjši tretji zvezek ima dva dela. Prvi razporeja v 116 paragrafih po avtorjih sumerske in akadske tekste ter njihove strokovne obdelave. V tretjem zvezku so posamezna gesla razporejena po vsebinskem vidiku, in šele v njihovem okviru se eventualno vrstijo imena avtorjev. Omejiti se moramo na najbolj značilne skupine.

Začetek tvorijo splošna gesla (§§ 1—3: bibliografija; zbirke prevedenih tekstov katalogi in muzejski vodiči). Izredno obilni (str. 2—36) so kraljevski napisi (§§23-27). Obširni sta tudi skupini, ki zajemata listine (§§28—45) in pisma (§§46—60) Precej obsežni so literarni teksti: najprej sumerski (§§ 61—76), za njimi akadski (§§ 77—83). Paralelno so razporejeni sumerski in akadski rituali (§§ 84s). Raztegnjena so gesla: mantika (§91), vokabularji in slovniški teksti (§§ ninety two s). Podrobno razčlenjena so gesla o posameznih znanostih (§§ a hundred and one ss) kakor o matematiki in metrologiji, astronomiji, medicini, kemiji, hippologiji, geografiji, muzikalnih tekstih, da naštejemo vsaj nekaj najbolj značilnih primerov.

Krajši del knjige navaja sekundarno literaturo, kajpak po izbiri (133—163 strani = §§ 117—145). Tako je tu obravnavana literatura npr. za akadsko leksikografijo (§§ 117 s), slovnico (§§ 119 s), za hrestomatijo (§§ 122 s), osebna imena avtorjev (§§ 124s). Končuje se z imeni avtorjev o izkopavanjih in z zgodovino asiriologije (§§144 s).

Avtorju velja naša iskrena zahvala za veliki napor, ki bo nedvomno močno olajševal asiriološki študij. Želim, da bi mogel uresničiti svoj veliki načrt in v bližnji bodočnosti v enotnem, še izpopolnjenem repertoriju klinopisne literature zajeti kolikor mogoče celokupno klinopisno literaturo!
